Maple & Lemon Pear Compote

This Maple & Lemon Pear Compote is very easy to make and the end result is so much better than anything you could every buy at the store.
Ingredients
  • 8 very ripe pears (the riper the better)
  • 1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
Instructions
  1. Peel and chop pears into small pieces and place into a small saucepan.
  2. Add maple syrup and lemon zest.
  3. Bring to a bowl and reduce to simmer uncovered for 45 minutes to an hour. It's important to keep stirring every once in awhile and making sure there is enough liquid. If you need to add liquid at any point, best to add lemon juice and a little bit of water.
  4. Once the liquid has evaporated, remove from heat and let cool.
  5. The compote can be saved in the refrigerator for 3-4 days in an airtight container, preferably glass or ceramic.
